January/February

Welcome
to our
Winter Wonderland Preschool
Classroom Environment
The classroom is divided into interest areas centered around specific types of play. The block corner, motor center and sand table are always favorite places to play. Each month we add and/or change the play centers to encourage new skills and interests.
We will be building an Igloo this month. Basic concepts including in/out, full/ empty, hot/cold/warm, small/medium,/large, in front of and behind will be incorporated into play. Naming shapes , one to one counting to 10 and the the colors black, white and gray will be a focus. The children will be learning about hibernation, penguins, and polar bears. During circle, the weather is a great time to discuss the winter season.
The sand table is full of shredded white paper with hidden numbered shapes. The children will be matching shapes and numbers as they play in our winter table. There are snowmen, penguins, red birds, and mittens hidden in the table.
